Google's Agent2Agent Protocol
A new protocol that lets AI agents communicate and coordinate tasks directly with each other.
Google’s Agent2Agent Protocol (A2A) standardises how AI agents talk to each other. Think of it as HTTP for AI agents.
The protocol lets agents discover, authenticate, and coordinate with other agents across different systems. Instead of building custom integrations for every agent pair, developers can use A2A to create networks of cooperating agents.
We find this interesting because it tackles a real problem. Current multi-agent systems are mostly closed loops where all agents come from the same provider. A2A could enable something more like the early web, where different systems could interoperate.
The protocol includes message formats, discovery mechanisms, and security features. Early implementations show agents successfully delegating tasks and sharing results across organisational boundaries.
This could be significant for enterprise AI deployments where agents from different vendors need to work together. The protocol is still experimental, but Google’s backing suggests serious intent to make agent interoperability a reality.
